Lakeview Fire Department, organized in 1909, provides fire protection and emergency response services  in Lakeview, sections of West Hempstead, and Rockville Centre. Originally two separate and distinct companies, Hook, Ladder, & Engine - Company 1 and Hose, Engine, & Rescue - Company 2 were merged in 1992 into what is now known as the Lakeview Fire Department.  The two companies were located on Hempstead Gardens Drive (Company 2) and the current site of the new facility (Company 1).

The department is comprised entirely of volunteers who reside within the communities they serve. Our members are all CPR-D certified, have completed rigorous training at the Nassau County Fire Academy, and in the field. The department's fleet includes 2 engines, 1 heavy rescue pumper, 1 ladder truck, an ambulance, and support vehicles.  Our services are delivered free of charge 24/7/365.

The department holds fire safety programs at local schools and street fairs, and invites youth groups to tour the station.
